Help!I write a new page for my Blog and when doing so I am not selected as the Author of the page. Strange.

Not sure if this is what you are experience--but, if the 'admin' is no longer a user to choose when writing posts, this is one avenue that usually fixes that problem:
Create a new admin user (e.g. newadmin)
Delete the old 'admin' user and assign any posts to 'newadmin'
Create 'admin' user
Delete 'newadmin' user and assign posts to 'admin'
