• I’ve installed a number of Facebook related plug ins. They all show up on my list of installed plug ins.

They are activated. Two different times I’d succeeded in putting a Facebook Button that showed how many “likes” I had as well as a thumbnail of my site that people could “go to.” Then, both times it just disappeared. Other Facebook plug ins were buggy.

As I installed several Facebook plug ins, I don’t know which was the effective one, and which ones were buggy.

When I go to Widgets in Appearance most of them are not there as widgets that can be dragged and put into the site, even though they are all showing as installed plugins.

I’ve tried deactivating, reactivating, deleleting the plug ins and logging in from different computers. Yet they don’t show up as widgets.

    Seeking help with:

    1. Suggestions for a Facebook plug in that would achive this: Facebook Button that showed how many “likes” I had as well as a thumbnail of my site that people could “go to.”

    2. Explanation of why / how to fix problem of installed plug ins not showing up as widgets that can be deployed in the site.

    Thank you.

  • You need to ask on the sub-forum for any plugin you have questions about. Try the official Facebook plugin – just updated yesterday or JetPack.

    Hi WPyogi,

Just to clarify, are you telling me to repost this question or future questions in a different forum other than trouble shooting. If so what forum do you suggest.

Also, when I look athte main Facebook plugin 9above) it seemed to be geared towards developers. I’m just an end-user looking for a plug in to link my WordPress page to Facebook using a widget that will allow people on my WordPress page to see a thumbnail of my Facebook page and get to that Facebook page with a click.

Where can I learn more about what Jetpack is, what the functions are and how it works. I see I have it installed, but it isn’t clear what it does, especially with relationship to linking with Facebook.

    Thank you.

are you telling me to repost this question or future questions in a different forum other than trouble shooting

Yes. You need to post your questions in the sub-forums of the facebook plugins(s) you have tried or are using. we cannot help on a general forum with issues relating to specific, unknown, facebook plugins.

Where can I learn more about what Jetpack is

    http://wordpress.org/plugins/jetpack/

If you have questions or problems with plugins, you need to ask those of the plugin developer – on the plugin’s dedicated forum – each plugin has it’s own sub-forum – you can get there via the plugin’s page here:

    http://wordpress.org/plugins/

Find the one you are using, then on that plugin’s page, click on the support tab and scroll down to post on that sub-forum.

The FB plugin is used by MANY regular users who are not developers. Click on the link I posted to get more info about JetPack.

    Thank you both.

So, from what you are saying, specific plugins aside, in general, if I install a plug in and it doesn’t show up as a widget that can be delployed in the site, then there is a problem and I shoudl either go to that plugin’s support page or try a new plugin?

If I go to the plugins dedicated forum, what questions about plugins can I ask in the Wordpres Troubleshooting Forums? What is acceptable?

The normal sequence of events is that installed and activated plug ins show up in appearnace – widgets?

    Thank you.

if I install a plug in and it doesn’t show up as a widget that can be delployed in the site, then there is a problem

Not as such, no but it could be that the plugin concerned simply does not offer a widget option. The plugin’s developer would be the best person to ask about this via the plugin’s dedicated sub-forum.

    What is acceptable?

Ideally, questions that do not relate to specific plugins.

The normal sequence of events is that installed and activated plug ins show up in appearnace – widgets?

No. That is very plugin specific.
