Why does WordPress strip links from image captions? WHY?

    So I’m using Flickr images with Creative Commons licenses and I’m adding the links back to the image and original author… and then WordPress goes and strips those links. The hell?

    Why do I have to resort to using a plugin or waste time hacking up the captions just so I can give these poor, poor photographers the credit they deserve? Does the WP community hate them THAT much?
