The default search widget has a title "Search" then a long entry field, and then a button with "Go" on it.
I set up my sidebar in Presentation > Widgets by dragging and dropping the widgets on to Sidebar 1

and then the search widget has no title, has a small entry field and has a button called "Search".
I want the default one as it is more in keeping with the rest of the widgets. How can I get it back, or is there another alternative.

Hello!
It's because the search box you saw before adding the search widget wasn't the search widget! A theme may have a unique search box and when you add the search widget you override the theme's search box. You can modify the widgets.php file to make the search box behave more in line with the other widgets, thus accepting styling from the theme.
