Why cant Authors see the Custom taxonomy I created

    Why cant Authors see the Custom taxonomy I created

    Only administrators can add to the custom taxonomy i created.. authors can not even see it on the side in the control panel..? do I have to add a line of code to the functions file where I have registered the new taxonomy?
