Why aren’t my share buttons showing up on my posts? When you go to the home page (www.scriptherapy.net) and scroll to the bottom of the post, there are no share buttons. But if you click on the header of the specific post (or go to http://www.scriptherapy.net/ptsd/), the share buttons are there as they should be.

Anyone know what could be causing this?

  • Are you using a plugin to get the share buttons in your menu, and if so, which one? It doesn’t seem to be a feature of the Lugada theme.

Wait, nevermind, you were referring to the bottom of the posts, let me look again…

No, it’s just part of the lugada theme. If you go to the theme webpage (http://wordpress.org/themes/lugada), click on “Preview”

A new pop up window will open. When it loads, click on the header of the sample post. Then scroll to the bottom of that post. You’ll see the same share buttons that are on my site.

I like the share buttons. I just want them to appear at the bottom of the posts that appear on the home page, as well. Not just when you click the header of the post.

It looks like the theme developer decided not to display the social icons at the bottom of each post on the blog/home page, which is not unusual. You can try posting a question on the theme’s support page, but it doesn’t look like the developer responds to any questions.

Good luck. I just tried a test install of the theme and I don’t like how it displays “prev post” and “next post” links at the bottom of each post entry on the blog page, which is very strange. Plus, the menu width doesn’t change on smaller viewport sizes, making it not very mobile-friendly.

Thank you for researching. But that doesn’t really help me to add the share buttons to the bottom of all posts. Do you know how the developer keeps the share buttons from appearing? Maybe I can edit/modify that code.

I tried changing some code in content.php, but couldn’t get it to work; it seems like there’s some JavaScript that needs to get triggered to bring in the right iframe or DIVs for the different buttons. If the developer doesn’t respond to you, and you really like the theme, you can try hiring someone to make it work, but I’d just go with a plugin like Shareaholic, which will do what you want.

Thank you for looking into the code for me. I really appreciate it 🙂

What if I remove the share buttons from the theme and then add Shareaholic, as you suggested. Would that work?

I was going to give you a suggestion on how to hide the theme’s share buttons using CSS, but it looks like you’ve already figured out how to remove them. Congratulations!

Thank you so much for all your help. I’ve been tweaking things little by little and I think I have it how I want it now. Thanks!
