Support » Fixing WordPress » Why are my gallery items stuck in landscape ratio?

  • My post gallery icons are showing as landscape, which is adding a bunch of space between items. I just want a thumbnail grid of 150px x 150px icons.

This is driving me nuts! Can anyone help?

  • Looks like you got it sorted out? The gallery on the home pae is showing 150px by 150px images for me. Let me know if you are still having problems.

    Cheers,

    Sorry, if I wasn’t clear…
the thumbnail size is correct, but is there a way to tighten up the icons so the whitespace (margin) is more like 5px? Does it have to do with the image captions?
    Thanks for taking a look!

Ahh I see what you are looking to adjust. Are you using the Gallery shortcode built into WordPress 3.6? If so, there are 2 things to consider when you are setting this up. First of all, under Settings>Media in the WordPress Dashboard you will see options for image sizes. If all of your image galleries will be using the same size thumbnails, you can just reset the size for thumbnails (as this is what is used by default) and be done with it. In your case I would make them 200px or 205px square. Otherwise, you can add size="medium" or size="large" to the Gallery shortcode to tell it to use a different size, and adjust the sizes to your liking.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Michael,
I got all excited but it’s still not working. I’m using a child theme of Canvas and wondering if it’s something in my child theme. I’m going to post at woothemes and see if anyone can help over there.

    Thanks!

Hmmm . . . was hoping that was it for you! Good luck over at Woo. They are usually pretty good with their assistance so you should be able to figure it out. The child theme shouldn’t make a difference unless you have some code in your style.css that is directly overriding the gallery thumbnails. Feel free to post your .css here if you can’t get it sorted out and I will be happy to take a look.

    Cheers!

    Michael
