   On my most recent post the comments are CLOSED. Can anyone tell me WHY and what I need to do to open them?

   Admin > Settings > Discussion and turn on the comments in the settings.

   Or if it is just for a single post visit that post's Edit page and below the area where you write your post should be a Discussion section. This is where you can enable/disable comments per post.

   If you can't seem to find the Discussion section on the same edit post page click on Screen Options at the top right of the Dashboard and make sure the Discussion checkbox is checked.

   Yep as JarretC has posted that one as well!

   A quick way to check for the "Allow Comments" flag, is:
   Admin > Posts > Posts this brings up a post list, instead of selecting the title mouse over the post until you see the link menu, bottom left of each post in the list.

   Don't choose edit use the option Quick Edit, this brings up an accordian slider with a set of options including the Allow Comments, without opening the whole post.

   THX guys. The "fix" was easy. Why it happened is beyond me.
