   Hello - appologies now for this most likely far out of place and often repeated post.

   I have picked up a real estate client who wants a site built - it is to be very basic and within my html / css capabilites. Thing is, he wants something he can update himself.

   Now, I made no allusions that I was capable of this, as I currently only have html, css, and a distant understanding of c++ basics. He's ok with me just building the static site and then him trying to find someone else, but I was thinking -

   exactly how difficult would it be to build this for him using wordpress? It would really only need to allow him to add / remove postings from a striped table, with a single picture link that would just bring up more pictures (perhaps using lightbox). Other than the additional picture link, wordpress can basically already do this.

   So, I need to learn Javascript / PHP anyways (for other reasons) - does anyone have any suggestions as to where I should start? Should I just start tearing through a PHP book, reading online plugin building tutorials? I've started to look through pre-built plugins but since I need this knowledge anyways?

   Any and all help would be appreciated.

   Fairly new to WordPress, I only have created part of a production web site with WordPress, including it in the page with <iframe>. I basically took the closest WordPress plug-in to what I wanted, and rewrote the insides, leaving the structure in tact, to avoid learning how to build my own plug-in. I found that worked quite well.

   I recently bought the new 2nd Edition of WordPress for Dummies by Lisa Sabin-Wilson. Having read the non-blogging parts of it, I can see how I'll convert my HTML-based web sites to WordPress using Pages. She covers a lot of information I had difficulty getting introduced to with existing on-line documentation resources that I could easily find, such as audio and video (stills and full motion) galleries.

   As for php, I learned it while writing plug-ins for a CMS, a year ago just from the official on-line manual (from the php development group).
