[resolved] Who is my web host ? Get permission to write (5 posts)

I always get error message "Is its parent directory writeable by the server?" when I want to upload anything.

I had installed some plugins and delete some plugins previously without any problem using the Dashboard > Plugin > Add New.

Now I can't delete / add new / upload any plugin or media, all with the same error message mentioned above.

I've tried to change permission code to 777,767,...etc. using FTP but failed with the error message "Response: 550 CHMOD 777 Read-only file system"

I've tried to change permission code with CPanel, also nothing changed.

I can access CPanel with URL , username , password and FTP with host name , username and password ?

Does this mean I am the host and have the permission to do anything?

What should I do to get things back to normal (can delete or upload)?
I also want to make my Theme stly.css writable to edit the margin of content but now I cannot have permission to make it writeable.

    Please help. Thank you.

Unless you have your own server, then you are not the host.
You must have bought hosting from somewhere like bluehost, dreamhost or God help you go daddy.

you should contact them and get them to help you out.

Thanks Christine for your quick response.

Just want to make things clear, this is my website info:

    Domain Name:happy2makemoney.com
    Name Server:dns1.affiliatesiteex.com
    Name Server:dns2.affiliatesiteex.com

Does this mean affiliatesiteex.com is my host and I should contact them to get help? Or else how to know who is my host?

Please help, I am newbie. Thank you.

Yes that is who is hosting your site.

You may also want to check with whoever you bought the domain name with. Perhaps they set up the hosting for you.
