• Hello,
To give some background: my site was receiving an error when trying to upload photos in posts. One of the support posts I read stated that it could be a plugin error causing this, and to try deactivating the plugins to see if there was a conflict. That seemed like a pretty simple fix.

In the process of deactivating them in the admin area, I selected “deactivate” however, the screen went blank as a deactivation was loading. My site as well as wp-admin are in white screen mode, and I have no idea how to bring it back. I do still have FTP access, but no way to login to the admin area to make any changes there. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks!

  • Try:
    – switching to the default theme automatically by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

Thanks for the response. I’ve tried both of those options, and I still do not have access to the site or the wp-admin. Just the white screen.

One thing I did notice in the ftp back end is that my wp-config file shows 0 bytes, and is blank in text editor. It looks to me that the time stamp on it’s last modification was around when I was trying to deactivate the plugins. Could this be an issue?

    Thanks again!

Try checking your site’s error logs for messages. Your hosts should be able to help you accessing your site’s error logs.

That’s my challenge- my site is being hosted by my web developer, and I can’t get a hold of him. I figured I would try to see what I could accomplish here until I can get in touch with him. Thanks!
