• my office owns a website zerohouse.net
it has always functioned properly since it was set up 2 years ago.
suddenly it went white last week.

nothing has been modified on our end. perhaps something was updated by wordpress?

we host the site with verio; we called verio and their specialist said he saw a “fatal error in line 107 of functions.php”

i’ve located the functions.php file on my FTP, but i don’t know what to do with it.

is this a common problem? are there any known fixes?

(i’m not a website specialist, but i know some basic html)

    thanks,
    brett

i renamed the themes folder in wp-content/themes… and my admin log-in came back…. but still no website.

does help narrow down the problem?

i can’t see the error code myself (that i know of).
the man on the phone at verio quoted the problem to me exactly like i wrote above.

What version of WordPress are you using?

    Thread Starter brettwolfe

    (@brettwolfe)

i can’t see what version it is, the screen is white again.

whichever version was current in 2010?

Can you access your database using Phpmyadmin?

    Thread Starter brettwolfe

    (@brettwolfe)

i don’t know what that is.
i can access my files through my host.

Your hosts should have a database management tool you can use. You need to examine the wp-options table in your database and locate the value for the option name db_version. That number will help us to determine which version of WordPress you are running. Unless we know, we can’t help a great deal as “circa 2010” isn’t really accurate enough. Upload the wrong version of WP and you risk trashing your database, so it’s essential that we know this version number.

    (@brettwolfe)

    found it
    db_version = 15477

You are running 3.0. The latest version you can currently re-upload is 3.0.5 and your default theme should be Twenty Ten.

Re-upload a fresh copy of Twenty Ten to wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.
    http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/twentyten

Then ensure that your old theme has been renamed but that the wp-content/themes folder is still untouched.

this seemed to do something, but it’s back to being white again.

i was able to log in to my dashboard for a few minutes.
it said my old theme was broken, it reverted to Twenty Ten.

i checked the site online, and it was working with the the Twenty Ten theme…

then i went back to my dashboard and now everything turned white again.

    esmi —
i tried this again today and it worked.

i have access to my admin, dashboard, and the site is currently working with the twenty ten theme!

is there a safe way to revert it back to my original theme? (it’s a modified version of ‘widescreen’ by graphpaperpress

    thanks!
