White screen - dashboard, widgets, plugins and themes (9 posts)

Hi, I am new to all this stuff so please go easy on me and explain in layman's terms.

Once I have passed the log in screen for my website I get a white screen. If I return to the website home page I can get in and edit pages and settings etc. But the dashboard, widgets, plugins and themes all bring up white pages.

I have tried the following from some research using the forum:

    1) deleting extra spaces in wp-admin/admin-functions.php
    2) deleting spaces in wp-content/themes/[mytheme]/functions.php
    3) deleting spaces in wp-includes/functions.php, functions.wp-scripts.php, and functions.wp-styles.php (and many other files.
    4) added define('WP_CACHE', 'false'); to the config.php file
    5) backed up the whole wp-admin folder, deleted it from FTP, re-uploaded
    6) deleted ALL plugins
    7) disabled the Twenty Twelve Theme which just gave me white pages all around.
    8) checked my error log and no errors.

Try checking your site's error logs for messages. Your hosts should be able to help you in accessing your site's error logs.

Thanks, but if you note point 8, I have already done that.

I have a similar problem to .EssJay. I can view my site just fine but when I go into the backend to view the dashboard, try to edit a page, go to themes or any of the main menu options I get a white screen. I can't even get to the backend. Note: This happened when I downloaded a plugin called register-plus-redux. .EssJay. - did the items you said you tried - are they good options or should I wait to see what others say?

Also, I just logged out and tried to login again and I can't even access the login page - it's a white screen.

@ashmic - please do not interrupt someone else's thread - start your own per the forum guidelines. Or stick with the one you have if it's the same issue.

I'm sorry. I just thought because it was related that it could help to keep similar lines of conversation together. I'll do what you suggested.

Just to say I can add pages and edit them, but can't access aforementioned pages.

I solved the problem, I called my host and apparently I didn't have enough PHP memory.

@ashmic, maybe you have the same problem?

Yes, I ended up disabling the plugin and my hosting provider increased my PHP memory and now everything works great.
