[resolved] White screen after 3.9.1 update but can get into Admin (11 posts)

    I visited a client's site today, and got a blank white screen. I was able to log in to the dashboard.

    1. I backed up and upgraded all plugins. Still a white screen.

    2. I disabled all plugins and changed theme to default. Still got a white screen.

    3. I changed plugins folder name to be sure all plugins were disabled.

    4. I tried adding a line to the config file at the end:
    define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT','200m');

    Still website is blank white but still can get into admin/dashboard.

    Any ideas. Thanks for your help!

    You may enable debug more to see the error.

    Thanks for the tip. I put these lines in wp-config.php file but not seeing the debug.log file.

    define('WP_DEBUG', true);

    // Enable Debug logging to the /wp-content/debug.log file
    define('WP_DEBUG_LOG', true);

    // Disable display of errors and warnings
    define('WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false);
    @ini_set('display_errors',0);

    My homepage is showing a white screen, but all the other pages are fine. Is this is a 3.9.1 update problem, cache problem or something else? See: http://www.zeroland.co.nz
    or http://zeroland.co.nz/directory/visual-arts/applied-arts/ as an example of a page showing up as it should.

    Thanks for your assistance.

    @Dianna

    Please add these lines

    define('WP_DEBUG', true);
    define('WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', true);
    @ini_set('display_errors', 1);

    @Adrian

    Kindly create separate thread for yours.
    BTW, this debug mode will work for you too.

    Ok, changed what I had to:
    define('WP_DEBUG', true);
    define('WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', true);
    @ini_set('display_errors', 1);

    Not seeing any errors displayed. This is supposed to put a debug.log file in your wp-content folder?

    No, this will display error on your browser.

    Not seeing errors displayed in the browser. Sorry to be so dense.

    I did figure out that it is only the home page that shows a blank white screen. The other pages are fine. Was thinking it might be the theme, but I changed the theme to 2012. Still no homepage.

    Any idea what that could be?

    Thanks so much for your help.

    Try to deactivate plugins only by one and check the issue.

    Turned out that there was an index.html file in the root folder of the site. I am pretty sure it has always been there, but perhaps something on the host account changed recently. Anyhow, deleted it and everything works now.

    Thank you for all of your help!
