Support » Plugins » Which Spam Plugin Disables Moderation Panel?

  • Can anyone tell me which of the following spam plugins disables the moderation panel? With my current configuration of spam plugins, comments go directly to my blogs without being stopped at the moderation panel. Unfortunately there are spammers and others who are still posting to my blogs and the current configuration makes it harder to delete the spams than managing them from the moderation panel.

    Does anyone know?

    Akismet
    Bad Behavior
    Spam Karma 2
    CJD Spam Nuke

    Thanks in advance.

  • I don’t know for certain, but I don’t think any of those plugins “disable” the moderation que…

If you want to enable the ability to moderate comments, go in your admin panel, goto options > discussion – make sure the option A comment is held for moderation is checked.

    Hope that helps

Nice try, but the check marks have been in in the right place right along. It was not until I hired someone to add spam plugins that this problem occurred.

One of these plugins or perhaps the combination disables the moderation panel. I thought someone here might know before I deactivate them.

    Thanks.

ok, then maybe you should contact the person who you hired to add the spam plugins and ask them to figure it out – since that seems to be, as you stated when you started to have the issue.

    Splanters,

Great idea. I tried that, also. Asked him about three times. He seemed miffed that I had a problem or that I wanted the moderation panel. Could not tell which. So that is a dead end.

Does anyone have any experience with these spam plugins?

    Well,

why don’t you try this… let’s backup to when you first started having the issue. Have you tried to disable the plugins and see where that gets you?

As I said above, I wanted to check here before doing that because if anyone knows which one it is, it would save me a lot of time. If no one knows, then I will have to do it myself by trial and error.

    Well,

It would be extremely difficult to know which one as everyones setup is different. I get what you’re saying though.

Relax man, everyone’s here to help. It gets frustrating sometimes, we’ve all be there. However, if you get more frustrated, I’ll be forced to unleash whooami on you….

Granted, I’m not the most knowledgeable when it comes to wordpress, so that may not be a bad thing

hahahaha …im busy in another thread, so this thread is a no-go.

yeah, I saw that… for what it’s worth, I’m learning alot in that thread too! 😉

Many of the spam plugins effectively disable moderation. You can get a plugin specifically for SpamKarma2 to force it to let you moderate. The rest I don’t know about, other than that there have been reports for several versions now that moderation is sidetracked when using them.

Get the SK2 moderate plugin here: http://blog.ftwr.co.uk/wordpress/sk2-moderate-plugin/

well im done with the other thread …SOOOOOOOOOOOOO..

to the OP: have you tried disabling the plugins one at a time and checking to see if that fixes the moderation issue? It’s a bit of a pain, but simple enough to do:

    1. disable a plugin
    2. Post a comment not as your-logged-in-self.
    3. Check to see if its available to moderate.

    thats what I would do.

Vkaryl, Thanks for this plugin, I will check it out. I knew there must be others who have experienced moderation being bypassed with the spam plugins.

Splanters, thanks for hanging in there with your suggestions.

It is not Akismet nor Bad Behavior. Akismet doesn’t touch comments that pass the check there. Bad Behavior doesn’t change comments that make it through the system at all, it’s a blocker, preventing the comment from making it into wordpress in the first place.

I’d venture a guess that Spam Karma 2 is the problem.

whooami, I have not done this yet, as you say, it is a pain and very time consuming. I figured that I must not be the first one to experience it, so I wanted to check here first to see if anyone knew about the problem.

welp, the clocks ticking (this thread is 2 hours old already) .. all this posting, you could have done by now 😛 and already have found out whether or not it was a plugin. Its only 4 plugins/4 comments, *might* have taken you 15 mins 🙂

**Confuscious say: It’s amazing how long some folks will wait for someone to help them when they might have figured it out themselves in a lot less time
