Which plugins do you feel are necessary (9 posts)

I have a question I hope experienced WP users can help me with. I, along with others, are starting a few blogs and have made the decision to use WP. I have scrolled the plugins and studied many of them for hours, but I thought it would be helpful to ask this community of experienced users which plugins you consider essential?

We are anticipating a fairly high volume of traffic based on the history of our other online ventures. Therefor we are concerned about issues such as security (from spammers, etc...), efficient advertising options and admin capabilities as we will have multiple contributors for each blog. Just to name a few of our concerns. So any thoughts would be appreciated on which plugins you feel are essential for us?

    Thanks!

Depends. You may want to give wordpress some more use first and determine for yourself when you think you need additional software. That, click on the Extend link at the top of the page that you're looking at, and search either here or with google for 'essential wordpress plugins' to see previous discussions on the topic.

Thanks jackiedobson. I wanted to try and get the pulse of this community of active users.

I wanted to try and get the pulse of this community of active users.

We have all had our pulses checked before -- there are plenty of very long threads that pre-exist here on this topic.

There are also lots of OTHER sites that list their chosen few.

seek and you shall find, no sense in killing a dead horse, least not for me.

I know how to do a google search btw. My point was to check the pulse of THIS community of ACTIVE wp users. I figured this was a better place, no the best place to get that type of infomation. It seems I was very wrong for looking for WP advise on the WP forum.

youre not asking for advise. your asking for very broad opinions.

until you clarify what YOU want to do there is little sense in someone prattling off a list of plugins.. who is to say you will want them, know what they do, or ever use them.

"prattling off a list of plugins" by users makes a lot of sense to me! Members of this board listing plugins that they use and are helpful to them is in a way them giving those particular plugins their indorsment. I am hoping for just this type of feedback.

For example, if you told me that 'Akismet' is the one plugin any blog must have to stop spam and other members of this forum agreed or even disagreed and recommended something they felt works better. This is becomes valuealble information for me.

whooami, please ignore this post since it seems to offend you, I'de like to keep it on topic.

does it offend jackiedobson as well? They provided you nearly the same response. You address me, Im going to respond. How about you dont reply back and we can let this die.

"prattling" = To talk much and idly

and it very appropriate in the context of your question.
