    Hi,

I’m just looking to find out which .php file is called on to create the structure for the static home page that this theme uses.

I want to change the structure of that page, but creating my own template and calling it front-page.php (which from my reading of the WP template hierarchy should work) seem to have zero effect.

I want to change the structure of the static home page because the default, a single 295px by 295px box to the top left of the page doesn’t really make sense to me – I can’t understand why any one would want that as their front page, especially as clicking the image (including the header text) does not link through to the actual content!

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks!

    L 😀

  • Just a stab in the dark, but: do you have JetPack installed/active?

    http://jetpack.me/support/featured-content/

The Theme itself is doing nothing custom with the front page template. Installed on a clean site, it would use page.php to render a static site front page. However, it does include a template-part file content-featured.php, that, as indicated by the instructions in readme.txt, uses the JetPack Featured Content module.

thanks Chip, I have installed Jet Pack but it is not active currently, will just deleting it sort the problem or should I something else to un-do what it is doing? (worried that just deleting it will leave the problem with less options for solving it).

Hmm, so if it’s not JetPack, then I’m stumped. We kind of have to go back to square one:

    1. Disable ALL Plugins
    2. Switch to a core-bundled Theme (Twenty Twelve/Thirteen/Fourteen)

See if the problem persists, or if you’re able to to set up a static front page the way you want to.

If you ARE able to set up your static front page, then activate your Theme again, and see if the static front page still displays properly.

If the static front page DOES still display properly, then re-activate your Plugins, one at a time, and see which one (if any) is the culprit.

Thanks, I’ve done that, the static pages works with 2014, and with another theme I have installed, but not with Pictorico. I also deleted the installations of Pictorico and of my child theme and reinstalled/recreated those too…. the problem must be somewhere deeper…. lord knows where

You’re right – something isn’t quite right there. I’m going to have our developers take a look at this. I see that you’ve gone ahead and switched to a different theme, but I will still update this thread when I have news.

Hello Kathryn and all, my name is Wladimir, I’ve stomped over the same …

So, no static page till now, daaamn, I like that theme and want to stay on. Let’s say alltogether ”We Want Static!“:)

    We waiting and hoping.

    Thank You for your Help.

A bug report was already in our queue for this issue, and we’ll keep everyone updated here when a fix is available in a new release for Pictorico.

Our developers have pushed a fix for the static homepage display issue in Pictorico. It’ll be included in the next Pictorico release.

    Nice, good news! Many thanks

The latest version of Pictorico (1.06) should display a static homepage correctly now.

The differences between version 1.04 and 1.06 can be seen here:
