which pages to noindex (1 post)

    if ($isBlogPage && !is_single())
    echo("<meta name=\"robots\" content=\"noindex,follow\">");

    Would it make sense to implement the above into my site template? $isBlogPage is a variable that I assign true to blog pages and false otherwise.

    This would tell search engines to not index the main page of my site macbasement.com (since ($isBlogPage = true)). I suppose I should allow indexing of the main domain? Or not?

    Reasoning for all of this is I get a lot of hits from google to archive pages and my index page. I'd like the result to instead link to the post that actually contains the search query, so as to not confuse the user.
