• Hello everyone,

I just finished One-Button install of WP via my cpanel only to find out that there is an upgrade. The info provided before the install says version 1.5. Is there a way to find out which version actually installed?

Now, if I don’t have the upgrade (I’m assuming I need this), can I just replace the changed files? I’ve already changed some things on the theme template, etc and would prefer not to lost them.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks again

  • promomom, look at rss feeds. That is load the rss feed in your browser and do view source. You will see something like <!-- generator="wordpress/1.5.1.1" --> at the top. if it’s 1.5.1.1 then you have the latest.

or, I should say, you can also open up the wp-includes/version.php file to see what version you have.

    Thanks Matt..

I have version 1.5 installed. So, now can I just replace the updated files or is it a whole new install?

    Thanks again

You can replace everything *but* what’s in the wp-contents/ directory, which will protect your template changes.

    Then run wp-admin/upgrade.php.

OK, so I reinstalled. Fixed a wp-config error…now, I get this error on the theme template I’m using..

WordPress database error: [Unknown column ‘time_modified’ in ‘order clause’]
    SELECT * FROM wp_posts WHERE post_status = ‘static’ ORDER BY time_modified ASC

Can someone tell me what this means?

    Thanks

I just deleted that line. I saved it in another file just in case I needed it later :))

So, looks like everything is installed fine. I just have to create the categories and links again.

    Thanks for your help.

I just have to create the categories and links again.
In that case something went wrong during the upgrade because all the categories and links are supposed to be there after an upgrade.

Hmmm … now wondering what went wrong :((
