Hi, Still looking into the world or WordPress, what Web Server is preferred by the WordPress community? I've been looking at the companies listed in the book 'Wordpress for dummies' which recommends blogs-about.com , laughingsquid.net, anhosting.com & dreamhost.com
Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

There are lots of discussions about which host to choose around here. This page has a list of the recommended hosts, but you should also research the hosts on your own and see which one you think will work out best for you and your needs.

I have no idea how WP came up with that list of hosting companies, what the criteria was, how they were tested and evaluated. For all we know they just agreed to pay to be listed and that's not what I would consider for a host.
Head over to webhostingtalk dot com and do some research and posting.

In my experience Hostgator is the simplest and I've had no problems, but Bluehost are also good. Take a look at their demos and this info to see which you prefer http://which1works.com/2010/03/which-host/
