Which Feed Plugin for my needs? (7 posts)

I need to fetch RSS feeds and display them on a WP "page." I'd like to list the various feeds in my sidebar, where a user can click one and then see the articles in the same area they see the posts and pages.

Which feed plugin would work best for this simple application?

Once I get the plugin, where exactly will I insert the code to run it? I believe these are usually PHP calls, so how can I run a PHP statement in a "page?" As far as I know, I am not allowed to place PHP in a page.

  2. You'll need to either get runPHP or whatever it's called that allows you to run PHP in posts/Pages or my preferred method - create a custom Page template.

As for the plugin, this may be what you're looking for: http://phpxperts.com/hasin/?p=92

And it doesn't even need you to use any PHP, that is if you're using it within a post or Page.

For sidebar support where you aren't in The Loop, you may need a plugin like this if the above one can only handle posts/Pages.

    Thanks for the info.

Yesterday I found BDP RSS Aggregator at:

Works great! It has a nice interface in wp-admin

    slobizman -

If you are trying to >store< the feeds as posts, you are looking for a reblogger. If you just want to >show< the reasonably-current state of some feed, then any aggregator script will do.

CG-FeedRead is good for sidebar, templated, and (with CG-QuickPHP) in-page or in-post feed displays. If you want to see a sample of it on a site, check out:

The main column is individual feeds being output, as is the Yahoo news on the right sidebar.

I saw CG-FeedRead before and didn't go for it because it was only available as part of the big bundle CG-PowerPack, and I didn't want to load up all sorts of other things. Can it be installed on its own?

How does this compare with BDP RSS Aggregator that I'm using? You can see it in action at my blog . Go to the rightmost sidebar column and click the links under "News Feeds." I like how all the configuration is in Admin.

I could use a reblogger for something else I might do. What's a good one for WordPress?
