I want to change my blog directory as per http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory
As per Step # 7 > Copy the index.php and .htaccess files from the WordPress directory into the root directory of your site (Blog address)

I moved idex.php but can't find where is my .htaccess file? Do all blogs have one .htaaccess file ( i am thinking I might not have thats why i cant find it)(or is hidden somehwere)

    Please advise.

in your ftp client there should be an option for "show hidden files"

if you really don't have one then set your permalinks
    admin - settings - permalinks

I did admin - settings - permalinks, and wordpress gave me message "You should update your .htaccess now", but still cant find .htaccess file

I am using FileZilla 3.12. On Filezilla I did >Server>forcse showing hidden files
    but still cant see

Does anyone know issue with FileZilla showing hidden files?

    no - i use filezilla - it's great

you just don't have an .htaccess yet - we can fix that

open notepad - save empty file as .htaccess.txt
    upload to root
with filezilla, rename file to just .htaccess - chmod 666
    set your permalinks
chmod .htaccess to 644 for security

Hello, I have the same problem. I create the file because i could´t find it and nothing. Y see the file created ".htaccess", i put it in the wp root directory.
Then when i change the permalink i can´t access to the blog ( http://www.otrommundoverde.com/blog ) and i look inside the htaccess and nothing had been written.
If you don´t have the htaccess file, it works the same?
But i need it to redirect my old files...
I algo tried with the plugins... "deans permalinks migration", and "pemalinks redirect" and the "redirection". With all i have the same problem. It seems that wp can´t create de htaccess.. but it have permisson.

And also when i create the file i put any instruction and it does´t take effect...

    please, help me.
    thank´s
    Ale
