• Hello, I’m somewhat new to WP so I’ve spent the past few days digging for information on this problem. Hope someone out there can help.

Between this forum, the help files, google, and many plugin developers sites, there is no information I could find about *where to place images in the wordpress folder structure to support displaying via plugins* (lightbox, lightwindow, mbox, etc).

Linking directly to these images works fine for any static page I create – they show in the page as regular static images. However when I add a rel= tag (or whatever tag/method is required for that plugin) the picture is no longer visible in the page. With mbox I was just getting a thin white horizontal line, and with the various lightbox plugins – nothing at all.

My site is jscampbell.info and I’ve installed WP to jscampbell.info/wordpress. Under the wordpress folder I’ve created a directory called photosets with subfolders for each set. I’ve uploaded a number of pictures to each subfolder via FTP. I’ve tried linking to these using full paths starting with HTTP:// and with relative paths from both the site root and WP root. Same result every time – nothing.

Does WordPress require that all images or media be placed in the wp-content/uploads folder for use with gallery plugins? I’ve tried blanking the field in the Settings-Miscellaneous so that the content root is now directly under WordPress. (photos are in WordPress/Photosets/…)

Very much hope someone can help here. WP is great but there is no clear documentation on this anywhere (AFAIK).
