Where to add icons to main horizontal menu bar in Chris's "Gallery" theme

I am currently using Chris Wallace’s “Gallery” Theme, based on Thematic.
I would like to add a set of social icons onto the right side of the main horizontal menu bar.
Right now the blog description, or tagline should be showing up there, but I cannot seem make it visible, even though I can see the scripting for it in the css file. I think this should be automatic?
I know enough to alter css files, but am not really familiar with the code in the functions file.
Right now I am experimenting with the “Share and Follow” icons plugin placed on the post pages, but it would really look much cleaner if they were on the menu bar instead.
Any info would be great…thanks ahead of time!
