where to add abillity to have favorite links attached to current_user

i want to hook into the linklist with a checkbox or small button to add the links to ‘favorite links’ of the current_user. What is the best way to do this in your plugin? do you provide a hook i can use?
i allready wrote most of the code for the favorites functionality but i would love to intergrate with your plugin because it would make it much easier in terms of presenting the links.
