Where is the Theme Directory? (7 posts)

    Hi,

I am a newbie of WP and I cannot upload a new theme. According to what I read, themes live in subdirectories residing in wp-content/themes/. But I have no idea where to find it. In addition, the default theme does not look like a theme. It's pure white.

According to my host, I should use a FTP client but I cannot log on after I download the software.

Here is my blog for your reference - http://fatherblogger.com/

Hope someone can help me here. Thanks.

In which case you need to go back to your host, after watching the video(s) and make sure that you are using the proper credentials, connecting to the proper host, etc..

looking at your site though, you have another problem.

    if you go here:

fatherblogger.com/ your install thinks its installed at fatherblogger.com/wp

and if i go here: fatherblogger.com/wp your WordPress thinks its installed at fatherblogger.com/

you need to sort that out before worrying about uploading themes.

Thanks for the fast reply, Whooami. Actually, I already raised this issue to my host but according to them fatherblogger.com/wp is the same as fatherblogger.com/ and there is no problem about this.

I think I should talk to them again.

Hope other forum members here will also help me. It has been 3 days that I am not getting what I paid my host for.

did you watch the video(s)? Youre trying to walk before you crawl.

You need to fix the issue with your blog install that I pointed out above, thats why both those pages show just text.

You need to figure out how to connect correctly to your site using an ftp client. That will require 3 pieces of information -- an IP or hostmask, a login, and a password. You get that info from your host.

You can use whatever cPanel utility your host provided you to see all the files in your account's directory. Somewhere in that cPanel should be some kind of file manager applet - find it and use that to browse through your files. It probably includes an upload/download function as well.
