I'm new to WordPress. I've looked for the standard index.htm or .html file on the host server, but so far no luck. There are a bunch of index.php files, but I can't find the file (supposedly) responsible for what you see when looking at the source code for the browser display. Will someone please help me find this file so I can edit it.

  2. There are no index.htm or index.html files in WordPress.

The main index.php file is what brings the various theme templates together to form what your browser displays.

You can edit the theme templates at Appearance/Editor in your Dashboard.

    Dear James,

Thank you for your insight. Perhaps you can help me with the following: on my site (http://www.talesandsales.net), I want the title (TALES AND SALES)to bring the user to another site when clicked and to display a system popup (yellow background with black typeface) when the mouse is over the title. I have tried various things (<a href... and certain javascript commands - onMouseOver, onClick), but nothing works. Any suggestions?
