    Hi,
I just keep going round in circles! I have loaded the wordpress.org files on the server in a separate folder named 'blog'. What do I do from here? How do I get to the Dashboard to load a theme?
I am with 123-reg :( They say I should use their WordPress App but it is not available to me for some reason. I have upgraded as asked but the App is still not available.
Can I bypass this and get this thing going?
    Regards,
    Penelope

I tried it but I get a load of code. I haven't got a password and stuff yet. I can't seem to get to the beginning of this ball of string!

Yes Sorry, it's not my site. I'm trying to set one up for mandmprinters.co.uk

I don't remember having any problem when I did mine and said I would do it for him. Only to find I couldn't and I can't see why!!!

    Regards, Penelope

there might be something useful in:

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress

i.e did you setup a database?

    did you go to http://yoursite.co.uk/blog/wp-admin/install.php

Yes I read the help pages on installing but I'm afraid I glazed over. It was just beyond me - I do wish they would use more screen-shots because if you don't know what a 'sprocket' is there is no way you are going to recognise one or what to do with it!

Anyway I went to http://mandmprinters.co.uk/blog/wp-admin/install.php as you suggest and got code again so I am missing a link somewhere. I will have to wait till tomorrow and get hold of my host. It's the database bit I expect. Thanks for trying.

Is PHP installed and running on the web server?

  9. Ask the host 123-reg.co.uk if they support WordPress and if php is configured in that account.

Yes! That was it - thanks a lot. I upgraded as I was using an old package. And lo, all was clear.

    Thanks for your help.

    Penelope
