    Hi People,

I first taught myself C in the late 1970's and so know what to do when it comes to hacking code. C, C++, /bin/sh, and so on. I founded my domain, "thought.org", almost 25 years ago but I am a n00b when it comes to blogging. I have used open-source since 1994 when I joined the net; that may be one problem. Since I run FreeBSD as my server I had to install WP as root. And since I am my own host, I'm not sure howto install the plugins. I've used ftp for 30 years, but it is a bit tricky in installing things like fonts or newer versions of WordPress. Could some kind soul please hold my hand until I get rolling?

Also, some days ago when clicking around on the home-page of my blog, I __somehow__ stumbled into a link to my username as author. Now I can't find that link to save my life. I don't want to do recursive greps thru the source. So I need help there too.

I would like to use some standard Serif font that is bold and a bit larger that my posts. And lastly, for those of us in our geezer years with poor eyesight, how can I make the default font a little larger.

    thanks muchly,

    gary kline

  2. Where's your WordPress site? I couldn't find it at a quick scan of your domain, and I'm not really gonna spend a lot of time poking around :) Just link right to the blog.

NORMALLY the answer is that it's at domain.com/blog/author/yourID but it depends on if you have pretty permalinks or whatnot.

Wow! That was bizarre. Just after I got registered a power-surge wiped me from the face of the Net. (And I'll fess up to a my-bad: I pressed "reset" on my modem. This is a no-no. Because I run Unix, the telco techs had to come out and reset my modem.) At least that's "*all*"

My WordPress site is http://www.thought.org/blog/ ... Last week I hand-wrote some HTML that lists my blog near the top of my home-page.

So you can click on the URL just listed, or goto my home page where there is a rectangle with red bg and yellow type.
