yes it is, in multiple places, since EVERYTHING involved in administering wordpress involves logging in via that page..

Thats also why the default theme thats automatically installed with every new install, includes a link in the sidebar, to that very page.

I have been struggling with this too for days. NO it is not clear where the hell the Admin panel is. It i s a De Facto standard to click on the Homepage of a site and have a log-in link for members to appear there. There is no such thing at WordPress.

As another newbie *to wordpress*, may I humbly suggest a simple instruction how to access the administration panel be posted in the first paragraph or two on the appropriate page of the docs:

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Administration_Panels

It most definitely is NOT there, and a few moments from a wordpress staff person, if they exist, will save countless people hours, and a frustrating first exposure to what I hear is the wonderful world of wordpress. Thank you to the one who posted the great answer.

    Thank you very kindly.

Yes , you are right. Some people that do not go through the famous 5 minute install (where the link to the admin panel is supplied) but have their host do the install could miss it.

Offcourse the default theme has a login link but some themes do not.

I just went thru the 5 minute instal. Actually, it was only two or three minutes to install. Cool.

However, another 30 minutes later I was about to through the worthless pile of junk out the window (figuratively speaking, of course). Why? Because, just as several other posters mentioned, there is NO LINK in the default theme to an admin panel or login screen. None. And, the docs provided on WordPress.org are worthless on this point.

Why? Well, under "WordPress for Beginners", the link "First Steps With WordPress" simply offers: "Begin by logging into the Administration Panel."

Seriously? No, really - seriously? Well, just how the heck do you do that?

"Offcourse (sic) the default theme has a login link"
No- no it doesn't. There is NO LINK to an Admin login screen ANYWHERE on a freshly installed WordPress installation.

So, here's a hint to the authors of ANYTHING that has "First Steps" in the title: actually provide those FIRST STEPS! No, "logging in" is NOT the "First Step". Getting to the login screen would be. (Technically, one could argue that installation would be, but getting to the login screen would be the "First Step" after install.)

So, I do thanks tfbpa for providing that info. It's a shame it was even a question.

Yes there is - if you look properly. It's under the Meta header in the sidebar.
