The user interface is in two locations in your buddypress groups.

Go to your groups page. On the right of each group have installed you will see the interface, where your members can set the different types of email.

Also, in the admin section for each group, there is also a brief setting where you can pick which email option can be set when new members first join the group.

Hmmm… So far, I don’t know that I’ve had a reason to do much with ‘groups’. I have ‘pages’ and ‘categories’ but had difficulty finding ‘groups’ and when I installed a plugin to deal more directly with groups, didn’t see what you were talking about..

Then you probably won’t be using this plugin until you do setup groups… Its designed specifically for use with the buddypress groups, thus the title, as its usage is a lot like the facebook system, so that your community in each group can monitor activity via email.

I’m not sure I understand the difference between a category and a group. A group for people with separate specific interests and a category to represent different subjects ????? Thanks

If you have setup buddypress as a plugin to wordpress, then PB groups is one of its primary social networking features. Each group is a separate community space where members of your PB/blog can go to share content with each other. Its just like facebook’s groups, where people can go to see content posted by an interest group, that wants to share content. Like a butterfly fan club. etc.

I suggest you visit the http://www.buddypress.org site for more details.
