Hi - I feel like this is a really stupid question - but I managed to go through the setup process successfully (had to use the manual input of the UA code) - but now I find myself at a loss as to where to actually see the Google Analytics data i.e. there is nothing on the Dashboard home page, and no side menu item either! Please help:)

I'm sorry but that is a bit a a silly answer! I know you can see the stats at the google.com/analytics site - but I thought the point of this plugin was to be able to see the stats somewhere on your WordPress dashboard!??

Nope, that was not the point of the plugin. The point is to make you not have to edit code to get your google analytics stats on the site.

This plugin used to have a dashboard widget, but it was removed several versions ago (v4.23) Not sure why, but would be nice to have at least a basic version of it back.

So as @curtismchale says, it's primary purpose now is to simplify addition of the tracking code and event tracking to your WordPress install.
