• I was trying to post a video from YouTube to my blog. Since my blog is self hosted it wants me to enter the API key and URL. I know the key but don’t know the URL. Where do I find this? Thanks.

Hmmm, no responses, did I ask something that didn’t make sense?

You should find the URL address of your video in the URL address bar when you click on your movie in You Tube – I think! Either that or you can get the html code for the video and paste it into your post in the Code section. Hope I am not talking rubbish. I came across your question as I am having problems loading videos into wordpress as the files are too big alledgedly. Seems loads of people are having problems with this and I can’t find a solution. Hope I have helped.

Why do you want to upload a YT video? Just copy the embed code from YT and paste it into a post, then add text if you want and publish it. This is a simple process and people want to make it difficult for some reason.

Saurus: The reason you want to “upload a youtube video” is that every time you do upload a youtube video to youtube, it will automatically create a post about your video on your blog. Then you don’t need to copy and paste, which might be a simple process but it’s actually easier to just upload a video and have your blog post created automatically. Also, it will save you from unintentionally forgetting to post your video on your blog. And if you have a lot of videos, it could also save you some problems.

Once you have your API Key, everything’s easy! No more annoying cut and paste of embed tags.

However, getting a WordPress API Key is not so straightforward if you host your own blog. To get a key, you need to sign up for an account at WordPress (choose the option of signing up for an account without starting a new blog). Then get the API Key by logging into your WordPress

And the API URL is: http://your.blog.address/xmlrpc.php
