Where do I start?

I have always built web sites in MS Front Page. I desperately want to use WordPress but don’t know where to start. I have it installed in my hosting account, I also have it on my computer, and am totally clueless on what to do next. This old dog is trying to learn new tricks but doesn’t know where to start to build a new site.
