[closed] where do I request forum posts to be removed? (19 posts)

I made a forum post quite a long time ago and linked to someone I don't want linked.

Can I edit the post to remove the link?

Or can I contact someone to get the post removed?

    Thanks.

  2. Post the forum post here and a mod may be able to help. No one's going to go through all your old posts for you ;)

It would be foolish of me to publicise the link further, so no, I won't be posting a link here.

The wp-forums mailing list is a good place to ask for this sort of thing.

But we can't remove something unless you tell us what it is you want removed. And even then, we might disagree. :)

There's telling, then there's telling everyone.

If you don't know, you don't have to reply.

If you can remove posts on the forum, get in touch in private.

    Thanks.

Yep, but whilst you ponder over that, the links are still out there.

If you don't know, you don't have to reply.

Both folk who have replied to this thread know.

We can, but you need to tell us which post it is, 'cos we ain't going to sit here trying to figure it out for you.

Use the mailing list (though be aware that that's archived) drop a reply here (which can be deleted afterwards) or find another way to contact one of the site mods.

Best is to post up here, then tag the post modlook.

  7. Use the mailing list (though be aware that that's archived) drop a reply here (which can be deleted afterwards) or find another way to contact one of the site mods.

    Be aware it's publicly archived.

But no, there is no one single, secure, email to send to and have a post removed. (Insert something here about open source support and make it snappier than I can right now ;) )

Actually, I think a better quote might be: Be liberal in what you read but conservative in what you post. :-)

    None of this is helpful.

Actually, we've all been quite accommodating. Everyone who has responded to you here is an administrator.

As stated already, if you want a post removed, reply with the link here. We'll remove both the post you linked to, and the reply containing the link.

If you want to handle this off of the forum, contact the mailing list:

You only have 28 posts in your entire history. Would it be any more convenient or "helpful" if you simply chose to identify the number of the post from your profile in which the questionable links reside? For example...

"Hey Mods! Would one of you be kind enough to look in my profile at post number "17" and see if it merits removal per my request?

    Just an idea.

Hey Mods! Would one of you be kind enough to look in my profile and email me in private about post removal?

    Thanks.

Hey, I can remove posts just fine. If you tell me which one it is. What part of this is unclear?

The wp-forums mailing list, which I pointed you to earlier, is a direct line to all the moderators and admins.

    I've emailed Matt. Ta.

Sigh. You know, emailing the mailing list would have been faster. Since Matt typically forwards those sorts of emails to me anyway.

If you'd have just done what I said 23 hours ago the post would be gone already.

    Funny.

You know what? Six different people have tried to help you out, and mostly all we've got in response is attitude.

You've sent your email off to Matt, - which will eventually wind up in Otto's inbox - so I don't expect there's any more point in leaving the thread open, no?

    Cheers
