    My blog CCCP displays the favicon fine, but not for RSS feeds - please tell me where to put the favicon, the feed page header shows this:

    <link rel="icon" href="feed:///__rsrc__/favicon.tif" type="image/x-icon" />
    <link rel="shortcut icon" href="feed:///__rsrc__/favicon.tif" type="image/x-icon" />

    Where the heck is ///__rsrc__/ ??? Please help. Otherwise, WordPress is great! Recommend it wholeheartedly.

  2. Why not just drop a favicon.ico in your root?

    http://www.viper007bond.com/feed/

    Or does that not work on some feed readers?

    I have no /feed/ folder in my installation that I can see?
    Do you just create it and put the favicon there?

    Your 007 favicon does not show up for your feed in Safari?
    Blog displays it fine.

    Anybody able to help please?

  6. Steve, your favicon appears to be working properly for both your blog and your feed.

    Hi macmanx, thanks for the post. I'm using Safari and whilst others RSS feed icons show up, my own isn't? What are you using please?

  8. To test your issue, I used Firefox v1.0.6 and NetNewsWire Lite v2.0.1. Both correctly displayed your Favicon. Safari automatically overrides all feed Favicons with its own newspaper-like Favicon. IOW, Safari will never display your feed's Favicon.

    If you want the Favicon to apply for the entire domain (including the feed), then favicon.ico must be placed in your domain's root directory, which it currently is. A well-programmed browser or RSS aggregator will be able to recognize and interpret the root Favicon as the Favicon for the entire domain.

    I see that newspaper icon for my site and ALA and a few others, but how come, for example, 456bereastreet, simplebits, particletree and mikeindustries icons show up? Is it a MT thing maybe?

  10. I'm not entirely sure. Like I said, a well-programmed browser or RSS aggregator will be able to recognize and interpret the root Favicon as the Favicon for the entire domain. Even though I support Apple 100%, I am still not convinced that Safari is "a well-programmed browser." There are just too many javascript bugs, and I'm sure that there are plenty of other bugs too. Actually, I prefer to use Safari as my day-to-day browser, but I use Firefox when I need "a well-programmed browser."

    Okay, thanks. I'll have a play and see what I can find. If it's useful, I'll post back. Cheers.

    It's a virtual directory that's created via Apache's mod_rewrite. But as said above, it doesn't matter as your favorite icon needs to go in your website root.
