Where can I edit the comment fields? (6 posts)

    Hi There,

    So on the single posts page, I need to edit the comment fields that are in the #respond tag.

    I've looked just about everywhere, and the only place that I can see the fields that might be applicable are in the includes / comments_template.php file. However, when I edit the file, nothing actually changes on the site so I don't think that's actually the right place.

    Also looked all over the other .php files of the theme / site.

    Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Figured this out... it's in the includes comments_template.php file after all.

    Editing core files is a bad idea as you'll lose all your changes when you update. Edit your theme instead.

    dude, I would if I could... this theme used the core files for the comments field.

    Er, do you suggest that I maybe create a comments_template.php file that it's called in through the theme?

    Currently, the includes/comments_template.php file is called in using

    <?php comment_form(); ?>

    Could I somehow create another comment_form only used on this theme?

    use hooks and filters in your functions.php file to customize it.
