When My Pings Go Out... (11 posts)

    Hey everyone.
When I go to post my 'post', I have entered all my pinging services in the options, and after I did that, when I "published" my post, I got this error:
Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/affectus/public_html/blog/wp-includes/class-xmlrpc.php on line 760
I am trying to make sure my posts ping. It is important to me, and some of readers that these things happen. =)
It's sort of odd, as the post was still published successfully.

When the pings fail for some reason, use Ping-o-matic. Hell, I use it otherwise too :)

I think it's when I add a URL into the post, and it tries to ping it. Otherwise, if there is no link in the post, there is no problems.
Any idea how to fix it? I know I could use Ping-o-Matic, I'm just letting you guys know. =)

What version are you using? This is fixed in the CVS (I think) Could you please confirm/deny?

LaughingLizard, how does the CVS compare to the beta? Will the next beta release come from the CVS or will the fixes go directly to the current beta? I'm a bit leery of installing the CVS over the beta unless a feature freeze has been put in place until 1.2 is released.
BTW, thanks for your reply concerning a fix related to this topic. I haven't tested it yet though. <g>

I have kept current with the CVS and I still get the error, though it is conceivable I have missed something.

@Alan: I am not sure if the fixes will go into the beta before the next release. However, I would not suggest installing the CVS for a live site either. Just hang in there till things settle down a little. :-)
@Beel: you would need the functions.php from after April 27th CVS (I think) to see the correct results. There was one pinger described in the wiki that errored out as well. If you could provide us with which one, it might help is solving this mystery.
    Thanks.

It's beta 1.2 I'm using. Any idea how to fix? It's really annoying.

Beel, I'm using the latest CVS as well and get the error.

I also got the error. No trackbacks are working.

Seems like a pretty common problem. I'm sure it will be fixed for the next beta/release.
