WordPress is just perfect with everything but not with the tinymce editor.

Tinymce editor just makes wordpress heavy and occupies sheer 600kb of wordpress size. Cant the creators of wordpress get any other javascript editor which is lightweight and easy to use. I hate popup windows in tinymce when inserting URL with tinymce.

I am sorry for criticism but this is just something i wanted to get off my chest for a longtime. If you want an alternative editor, why not consider this work: http://corpocrat.com/2008/12/18/free-wysiwyg-textarea-html-editor/. The code is way too simple and very lightweight and can be extended.

The whole wordpress download size would shrink by 50% if you can get a lightweight editor or why not just use bbcode instead of html.

i like the tinymce when extended to max. making tables and other stuff is pretty simple. yeah, you´re right it´s a pretty heavy-weigth, but it´s working and got a lot of features. and those features stand far above every other editor.

agreed tinymce is not the only editor with full features. There are many other open source editors like nicedit and many more having plenty of features and of course light weight. why not consider them?

TinyMce is resource intensive, but it is the most customizable WYSIWYG editor and has a lot of features. Probably the other one you might consider is FCKEditor which is light in size and also free. But if you don't like neither one of these, there are many others to choose from.
