signed up for notification when manual comes out. It's really hard to find this link and I'm desparate about getting my hands on a manual. I have to replace my company's website and change it from Dreamweaver & I have no idea how to use WP.

When can I find out when the manual's coming out?

This IS the WordPress manual. Also.... Dreamweaver is very little help when it comes to WordPress

To clarify, it's the hardcopy manual.
Let me try to find the link: nope it's really really hard to find.

Anyhow the manual (hardcopy) is supposedly on backorder but I guess I'll just have to wait

There isn't an official hardcopy manual. You must have bought a book written by a third party.

You would have to create your own manual, if you're having employees who use your wordpress.
Actually, when people just have to do some simple task - like editing a page, or making a new post, you really fit the whole 'manual' in just one paragraph, and include links, also referring to codex.
If you need to perform more difficult tasks, such as SEO, administration/maintenance, design, etc., then you might consider reducing the salary of your employing for their inability to self-study the codex (j/k). You'll have to find a dev (or two), who really know the wp, and that's the way to go, in my opinion.
    Cheers.

@Gallienus53 if you need tolearn how to install and setup WordPress, then you can't go past the Codex

If you need to train your staff how to use WordPress to manage content then you can't go past the Video User Manuals plugin.

And yes, I'm one of the co-founders.

I have no clue what the above statement says.

I can't go past the Codex??? Does this mean I should learn the Codex? Or not learn more than the Codex?

Then you might consider reducing the salary of your employing for their inability to self-study the codex (j/k). You'll have to find a dev (or two), who really know the wp, and that's the way to go, in my opinion.

Okay I'll pay myself less. We're an engineering business. This means that we have no funds to hire anybody for dev.

This thread was originally meant to reference a manual. These have just become available (in dented hardcopy) from digiWP called "Digging into WordPress" by Chris Coyier & Jeff Starr.

Well, we didn't suggest any particular book because what you asked for was a manual...

There is still no WordPress manual, nor one planned (in hardcopy). I do believe much is happening behind the scenes to overhaul the present codex

The Digging into WP series are definitely good, there are many good books out there relating to WP. SOme hardcopy, some e-books of course. But there is no hardcopy manual in any official capacity.

Work is ongoing to create an online Users Manual aimed at non-technical site owners.
