   Hi there,

   I have tested this problem in both the default theme for wordpress and the one I am creating and what happens is that when I add a pdf file for download and I update the page the file url gets converted to a post url.

   I what it to stay as a direct link to the pdf for download. Any suggestions on what to do. I have been googling but have had no luck to date.

   This is what I do BTW:
   1. Edit page
   2. Click cursor on page where I want the pdf file to be have it links
   3. Click the add media icon then select the pdf from my media files.
   4. Click the file URL button then click insert into my post.
   5. Preview the page - it works but when I click update and make it live it does not, the link takes me to a new page with the link then I click again and it downloads.

   How do I get it to just download the link without going to a new page?

   When inserting the pdf, ensure that you check/tick "File Url" and not "Post Url".

   Hi Esmi, yes I make sure I select/click the File URL button.

   I have even copied the "file url" code and tried adding it as a link as well but it gets converted too back into a post url. hmm strange.
