   I just started using wordpress. Trying to build a new simple website. When I activate the theme and try to preview it, this pops up. What Am I doing wrong?

   Does the default theme work as from what see in image you are seeing index of your root folder check if you have all wordpress files and folders looks like you missing index.php

   No, none of the themes work. Not even the default one. Should I reinstall wordpress? I just checked on ftp and the index.php is there

   I created a diff subdirectory than the root for wordpress and now i get a blank page

   with

   Index of /Phototest

   Parent Directory

   Apache/2.2.19 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.19 OpenSSL/0.9.8r DAV/2 mod_fcgid/2.3.6 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635

   One other thing. When I installed wordpress instead of taking me to an admin login page, its taking me to that root directory seen in the first screen shot

   Okay, my host helped me out. my htaccess was incorrect.
