When creating a new page, WordPress wont let me rename URL

    Hey all,

    Just something weird I have come across in WordPress while trying to create a static page called “About” with the url sitename.co.nz/wordpress/about. I created this page called About and tried to make the URL “wordpress/about/”. I can edit the url fine and call it “about” but when I click update, wordpress renames it to about-2 or sometimes about-3.

    Any ideas about this? At first I thought it was because I had old page called “About” in the trash, which I deleted then created a new page, but that hasn’t helped.

    EDIT: Following this, when I rename it to something like “aboutpage” nothing is changed and it works how it should.

    You are correct in that there is another page or post with the url about in it. I would double check, empty the trash, in both pages and posts.
