When Akismet has server problems I assume it means MY server, not the Akismet server. Am I right?
The message says: "Akismet has detected a problem. A server or network problem prevented Akismet from checking 123 comments. They have been temporarily held for moderation and will be automatically re-checked in 2 days."
Short of changing to another host, is there an easy fix?

If things have been working fine and you start getting that message then something happened between your server and Akismet.com ( you can see Akismet API status at http://status.automattic.com/9931/136079/Akismet-API ) - this could be something that is just a brief intermittent issue, or it could be something your hosting provider has changed on a firewall or proxy server. Your hosting provider is usually in the best position to help determine what is going on.
