   Maybe I'm just lousy at finding it, but there doesn't seem to be any real release notes of WordPress releases?

   From what I can find on the WordPress blog or in the Codex there's just links to the list of closed tickets in Trac since last release. I understand that it is much more convenient that way than having to write real release notes, but from a project this large I think it ok to expect more. Just viewing the tickets or the complete changelog is nog the same thing as a well written release note that explains the changes.

   Drupal knows how to do this, and Joomla as well.

   I agree with you there, because a changelog or list of tickets is better than release notes, which are often incomplete and misleading.

   Release notes are usually useless. Especially for point releases.
