• I’m running a website that gets thousands of unique visitors per day and I’m really itching to change the current template because it’s slow and in need of modernization.

Can anyone recommend the least intrusive way to make the change? Every new template I try looks extremely disorganized and incomplete and would take hours to perfect, leaving visitors with an incomplete mess to look at.

Creating a new folder and installing WordPress all over again to make changes seems like a chore and doesn’t really help with a full website with thousands of posts.

Thanks ahead of time for your input!

  • Unfortunately I think creating a duplicate site, while kind of a pain, will ultimately be the least disruptive to your visitors.

The only other option that I can think of is to use the “Preview” option after installing a theme, but personally I wouldn’t be too confident in relying on that for anything that gets the kind of traffic you describe.

A duplicate site only has to be set up once, and then you’ll have a safe, reliable place to test themes and plugins before implementing them on your live site.
