    What program do you use for editing and creating themes? I'm on a new mac and in need of a blog redesign.

    I have no WP theme experience so being able to play and see what happens would be helpful. I'd like to do the work myself. What do you prefer to use?

    On a Mac you say - Try CODA from Panic.
    I believe that's the best there is for this kind of stuff.

    For a PC I use Windows Live Writer, I've tried most others, this is the best, and its free.

    I'll agree with Coda, I don't use anything else these days. It's great.

    Here is a link for you: 25 Useful WYSIWYG Editors reviewed. For testing WordPress (with your theme) local you will also need Xampp on your computer.

    Thanks Evita,

    I've tried using Xampp, downloaded and installed everything required but can't ever get it to work! BTW, your link is for the MAC version.!

    Yes, because the original poster works on a mac.

    ... but can't ever get it to work

    I'm sorry about that. I´m using Xampp for years without problems (and I am completely clueless about server stuff).

    main thing about using Xampp is exactly figuring out what to do after installation.
    I've been there, and almost uninstalled, but with asking Google right questions I've found answer:

    It's like this; Folder in which you'll have to put everything is htdocs. That's where all web applications go - from WordPress to Forums and other CMS'es.

    When XAMPP is installed look into http://localhost/phpmyadmin/ to create new database.
    and process of installing wordpress localy is described on multiple pages and can easily be found
    using Google.

    In the very end you should be able to access your local wordpres page by typing: localhost/wordpress in every browser.
