    On my homepage, which shows my latest posts, I would like my most recent post to show with a large image, and than have the older post differently formatted, with a smaller image to the left and brief text to right. Trying to figure out what to target to do this.

    This site is a perfect example of what I am after:
    http://camillestyles.com/

    Thanks!!!

    One possible way to get started would be to adjust the image width for featured images on the home page with just a little bit of CSS. Here is an example I tested on the Superhero WordPress theme demo site:

    .home .has-post-thumbnail img {
    	width: 40%;
    	float: left;
    	padding-right: 2%;
    }
    .home .has-post-thumbnail .entry-header {
    	float: left;
    	width: 48%;
    }

    It won't be exactly the same as http://camillestyles.com/ but you should be able to adjust the percentages in the example if needed and also make sure the length of the text that appears doesn't go past the image by using the more tag on your posts.

    To add custom CSS, you can use a plugin such as Jetpack which comes with a CSS editor as one of the options.

    I think custom CSS would be the fastest, simplest solution for a quick update. However, it's also possible to create a child theme and write custom code to adjust things such as the featured image size and overall heights. A custom code update like that is very possible, but more involved code-wise and you would need to start with a tutorial like http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes and go from there. I could help you get started like that if you're interested, but you would be on your own to write the custom code after that.
