   Hello,
   I have downloaded wordpress and bouht hosting. I now have no idea how to start using it. What do I do? I read somewhere that I need to upload the 'content' but not the 'directory' to my hosting. What does that mean and how do I do it? How do I actually start using wordpress?

   I remember being equally confused when I first downloaded WP three years ago.

   Read Installing_WordPress and see if that helps.

   upload the 'content' but not the 'directory'

   What that means is that you need to upload the contents of the WordPress folder that you downloaded, but not the folder itself. Don't worry! You'll get the hang of it :)

   Ok, that's great thanks! So do I need to upload the contents of the wp-content, wp-admin and wp-includes folders, or is it just the files in the main folder?

   You need to upload all the files contained in the WordPress folder. It's a good idea to read through the installing_wordpress article before you start, though.
