If you don’t like to recommend (I would understand that), please tell me how to extend automatically the width of the submenus to the actual length of subcategories name. At the moment it’s a fixed length and as soon you have more than approx. 20 letters and more than one word it goes to the next row.

(btw. I also like it more to work without plugins, if the theme gives me all possebilities.)

You might want to try the ‘AVH Extended Categories Widgets’ plugin. It will add three widget options to your widget dashboard for category menus. The one labeled simply, ‘AVH Extended Categories’ is completely customizable. Or build a custom menu and then use a jquery plugin such as ‘jquery Vertical Accordion Menu’ plugin to add a custom sidebar dropdown menu. Also, be sure to check Suffusion’s support forum in future, where you’ll find that many/most questions about the best WordPress theme EVER have already been asked and answered: http://aquoid.com/forum/
